Subject that which forms a basic matter of thought, discussion, investigation, etc. (dictionary.com)Subject could be big or small, in the matter of physicality or importance. Subjective, in compliment to subject, would assume a personal element. It is what you think whereas subject is a topic, a story. Subject is something we conceive. Different subjects extract different meanings to think of, to make of. A subject is a person, therefore a person is a subject. We are subjects. Subjects to what?
