Matt had the idea of a place to take a break from the everyday rituals where one could rearrange his/her thoughts. That became his sustenance. Serene space to balance the "mental hardships" with sense of privacy reflected on the enclosing fabric design. Serenity within design is projected with sunlight softened through the fabric and visual symbolism of a cocoon. His idea was situated on the balcony of an apartment building where in a deliberate sense, one would be out of the public, but moreover, as to create a connection between the insides of the home to the outside. Described as almost a "timeout zone" made for kids and adults alike without being forced to.

Lauren found her sustenance through what she seeks first when she wakes, that is, Ipod. She then began her idea through the relationship between people and music, and how music is one of the core elements in life which nowadays and since always, music is and has been a sustenance. Music was found to be the drive of many things such as our creative process and stimulation of our memories and feelings. She then introduced a space in the park with an iconic image representation of Ipod, also the main source of her music. A space to pause and think, a place to sit and share. She then decided to link the designs of an old lamp post with Ipod, a new technology of music as to consider the age of music and to reflect the diversities of music, that not all music is to everyone's taste.
Music fills the space without it taking up any.
